how should i word a masquerade ball invitation? i'm having a masquerade ball for my 21st and i'm unsure as to how to word the invitation. i thought i'd start with a quote about a masked ball and then go on to listing the date, time, venue, etc. i'd like it to sound formal, but not over the top. and i'd like the guests to bring gifts for a charity organisation instead of for me... any suggestions on how to put this in writing without sounding too official?

What do i wear to a masquerade ball sweet 16 (dress help!)? I was invited to a sweet 16 party. It's gonna be really big and elegant, and it's a masquerade ball. The invitation said wear cocktail dress, bring a mask. The party is at a club and it starts at 8 PM. I am dying to go, and I'm gonna get a dress done, but I have no ideas. I think it's a short dress, like not longer than the knees but I'm not sure. Any ideas or pictures that I could use to get my dress made, I'm gonna start from scrathch but I need it in 2 weeks. Also, any tips on how to make my green eyes look bigger (color of the dress?), masks, or hair tips I will love. Thank you!!!
Invited to a wedding reception masquerade ball? I have no idea how these things are done, the invitation says "masquerade/costume attire not required but encouraged". What do men and women wear? Where do you find the stuff? Any help would be appreciated, we have three months to come up with outfits (my husband and I) but I have no idea where to look or what is appropriate and don't want to be the odd ones there. And if it's expensive stuff I'd really need to save up for it. Thank you!!!

If you were to go to a Masquerade ball? What kind of music would you like played? Please specify your age. And what kind of food? Oh and what would you wear If someone were to hand you an invitation that read "Formal wear". My friends and I are holding a Masquerade ball ;) and we wanted to see from an outsiders point of view what they would want and what they think would be appropriate to wear to such an event.

Choose your character, and entrance music, to a CM "Halloween" MASQUERADE Ball? Please accept this formal invitation, all patrons of the Classical Music Forum, to a celebratory "Halloween" MASQUERADE Ball. Am sure everyone will most heartily enjoy themselves. To insure its most entertaining success, please be advised that everyone is expected to choose an historical, classical music character, coming dressed in an appropriate costume; and let me know before Friday, October 30, 2009, what exemplary music selection you wished to be performed upon your announced entrance. Your chosen character may be any personage, past or present: composer, singer, instrumentalist, conductor, a well-known relative of any of these, whatever delights you. Your entrance music need only relate in some meaningful way to your chosen character. It's respectfully requested that if at all possible you list a You Tube video or any other recording of it in your response. I will be costumed as my user name, "Alberich": the terrible dwarf whose choices sets in motion the tragedy of Wagner's "Ring of the Nibelung". My entrance music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCXxr44gh0U Have fun one and all, Alberich {}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{} Well, it's a little past 9:00, PST, and I see everyone is having a good time; some of you, perhaps mighten have indulged a bit much? (watch in there, with your champagne please - that's a brand new carpet, flown in especially from Afghanistan last week). It's getting close to bedtime for me, and my back is beginning to hurt; so, with your kind permission, think I will retire. Want to thank you one and all for coming: all the costumes were stunning, and your chosen entrance music was devine. Maybe we all come together next year for another most enjoyable evening, God willing? Again, thank you kindly coming - goodnight(and please don't forget the tips? The caterers and all attendants have worked very hard to make the ball a grand success). Will leave it up to you, to pick the best costume and entrance music; again, goodnight. and thank you for coming.
Quinceanera ivitations that go with the theme: Cinderella's Masquerade Ball???? My Quince theme is Cinderella's Masquerade Ball. I'm going to have a mask and my court will also have a mask. I pretty much have everything I need except the invitations. I want something that shows both the mask and the cinderella castle. I have a few ideas...the first one is that the invitation is shaped as a mask but i don't know about the castle. Then I was thinking of making my invitation a scroll kind. My mom also wants to maybe put a picture of me when I was little. The invitation has to look elegant because it is sort of a ball. Do you have any ideas on what I can do? Or where I can go to get them customize? Please help me.
bring-your-own-mask masquerade ball? if you have answered any of my questions from earlier this week, i am having a masquerade/phantom of the opera theme sweet 16. i was wondering, would it be a turn off if the guests had to bring their own masks? i know there are sites where you can get masks cheap but i definately dont want party crashers or people without masks (it kinda defeats the purpose of the whole masquerade theme) i was going to buy and decorate the masks myself and give them with the invitations (hand delivered of course) but that's so expensive and i have to pay for the party mostly by myself. also how would i word it on the invitations. i want them to sound formal like the letters from the "opera ghost" and is a dress code a turn off too (my party is kinda going to be formal b/c of the whole ball thing and my colors are black, white, and silver)
Masquerade Ball Sweet 16? I am having a masquerade ball for my sweet 16. We have rented out a ballroom from a hotel and a dj, but I need ideas for invitations (I want them to be on a mask, I just don't know how), a show stopping dress and mask, what to give out as party favors, decorations, and how many people I should invite. I don't want it to exceed 100, but I don't want it be a small party either. Also, what colors are good? I was thinking just as a general theme, black, purple, and silver, or black, gold, and red. Thank you for any ideas! Sorry if this is in the wrong category, I didn't know where to put it exactly.
What are some games I can use for a masquerade ball? I really need help! :( I am throwing a masquerade ball in about two weeks and I don't know what to do for activities and games. I already made and handed out the invitations and I bought the masks for everyone. It will be 5 hours long, so I need to keep my guests occupied. There will be about 30 people coming. I also don't want it to be Mardi Gras! It is a teen party, so any activities that you can suggest, I will be SOOOOO grateful. Thank you so much! :)

No idea what to wear to a masquerade ball... HELP!!!!? A friend of mine is having a Sweet 16 Masquerade Ball. I haven't even decided if I should go or not, because I don't know a lot of the people going and I don't know if I'd feel comfortable there... Anyway, my main problem is WHAT DO I WEAR?! The invitation says "dress to impress, masquerade (mardi gras) costumes or semi-formal and don't forget your mask" I'm a very athletic girl, VERY short, and not...umm.../curvaceous/ at all. I'm trying to figure out what to wear. I've never been to any of my school's dances and the last time I wore a dress was fifth grade. Are these dresses considered "semi-formal"? http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=50455&CatID=56312&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=14b960d&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CMID=50455|51280&Fltr=&Srt=&QL=F&IND=38&CmCatId=50455|51280|56312#reviews http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=144382e&RefPage=X6&deptID=50455&catID=56312&cmOrigID=14b960d&cmPosID=1&CmCatId=50455|51280|56312 http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=14b9612&RefPage=X6&deptID=50455&catID=56312&cmOrigID=14a0410&cmPosID=1&CmCatId=50455|51280|56312|crosssell#reviews http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=50455&CatID=66579&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=147f27a&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CMID=EXTERNAL|51280&Fltr=&Srt=&QL=F&IND=8&CmCatId=external|51280|66579 Also, I don't want to be spending too much money on it, since I probably won't wear it very often. I'm thinking for a mask I'll just go to a party store, but do you know of anyplace near Sacramento, CA that sells mardi gras/masquerade specific costumes and masks? Thanks... =]
Questions for a masquerade ball? hey! i want to plan a masquerade ball for my 17th birthday. I want it to be a semi formal dance. Guys in shirts and ties, and girls in dresses or dress pants, and everyone wearing some kind of mask. But i do have a few questions that I'm not so sure about... 1. How do I word the type of attire the guests are supposed to wear on the invitation? 2. Where can my guests get masks? I thought of providing a few of those plastic multicolored masks, for those who couldn't find any, but I also wanted to have a best mask competition... So I guess what I'm asking is where can store bought or blank homemasks masks be found? Not like Mardi Gras per say... 3. How can I get everyone at the party to have fun? Like I want my guests to be fun and entertained, so is there a way I can get them to break out of their shells and dance? Thank you so much for taking the time to help me!! And any suggestions you may have are very much welcome. =]
I need help finding stuff for a Masquerade Sweet 16.? I'm having a hard time finding things in the "Masquerade" theme without it being Mardi Gras--I don't want Mardi Gras!!! It is a Masquerade Ball called "Unmasking the Night". I found good invitations but I still need to pick a color scheme (help?), find masquerade masks (at a cheap price!) and find everything else. Help me find sites for this!
We will be having a "non traditional wedding" and I am looking for ideas on how to word the invitations.? My fiance and I are getting married (legally) today (May 2nd), but we are planning our big ceremony in October. Today's ceremony is just going to be a small reception with a few close friends and family. We did recently find out we are expecting our first child, and being Christians, we want to make things right with God. (no Christian bashing, or premarital sex bashing please). We want to send out invitations for our October wedding, but I am unsure of how to word them. We will already be married, and we are hosting it ourselves. We would like to somehow include the theme of the wedding in the invitations as well. We will be having a masquerade ball and would love for our guests to come in costume/Mardi Gras style mask. Any ideas would be appreciated. More information for ignorant people like "messykatt". We had already planned and announced our October wedding when we found out we were expecting. Obviously we didn't do things according to what God would want us to do and we want to make things right. Since we just found out we are pregnant (and by no means am I sorry about this pregnancy) we wanted to make things right and have what some people would refer to as a "shotgun" wedding. We already have many out of town confirmed guests coming to the wedding in October. We still want to have the fun wedding we had planned, regardless of my being very pregnant in October. Thank you for the non-judgmental responses we have received so far.
Masquerade birthday party? This summer, I had the opportunity to take a trip to Venice, Italy. There, I got a custom made Masquerade mask. My 21st birthday is coming up (the big one!!) and I want to have a masquerade ball to celebrate. The guest list is 50-100 people big. I need help with all the planning, from what to design the invitations, to how to decorate, to EVERYTHING!! I really need help. Is there a website or book I can get to get a complete check list or planner for this type of party, or does anyone know exactly from start to finish how to plan a masquerade? ok people, not to be rude or anything, but i know how to use the internet, i'm asking from people who have had experience with this type of party, i am having trouble finding websites where you dont have to pay a subscription, so i'm asking for help from people who have had this type of party.
Masquerade Party? For my birthday party, I am turning 14; I will be hosting a Masquerade Ball/ Party. This will be at my house and in my back yard. I have the decor down: theme colors are scarlet, black, dark blue, and silver or gold, stars hanging from the ceiling a backdrop for people to take pictures, and Balloons will also be placed throughout the room. It will be from about 630 to ten pm. We will dance and eat snack stuff. Dress code~ basically hip church clothes. Like jeans and dress shirts for guys, jeans or skirts for girls with nice t's or dress shirts and MASKS are a MUST. What should we DO? And how should I make the invitations? Any pictures would be helpful!!!! Thanks. p.s. no links ~ your words please!!!
What can I do for my sweet 16? I'm only 14 but I would like ideas for a grand entrance, food, music, performers like circus performers or band/ singer (anything like that), an outfit and invitations for my 16th birthday. I know the theme which is a masquerade ball/disco but I don't know what sort of thing to do for it.
Things resembling a masquerade? I have to do a project about The Masquerade of The Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe. The assignment is to make an invitation congenially inviting you to the ball. I'm just curious as to what to include in the card. Any sugestions are really appreciated.
Hosting a Masquerade Wedding Reception? I am trying to get ideas on how to host a masquerade for our future wedding reception. I want to have a nice normal wedding ceremony and to have the masquerade as the wedding reception theme. I am wondering if I should put on the invitation to wear costumes or just formal wear. We are going more for a present masquerade type ball, not 1700-1800 costumes or anything that would make our guests spend money. We will be supplying masks as the wedding favors. If you have any ideas on how to word an invitation or centerpieces, etc. I need help!!! LOL. Thanks
need help with party planning...? ok, I'm planning a masquerade ball. I need ideas for decorations, invitations and all that jazz. But more importantly, I'm about to speak to an event planner about using there facility and i always get nervous talking on the phone...What information should i have prepared for my conversation? If anyone has any masquerade ideas that would be wonderful!
Need different crazy fun ideas for wedding favors and centerpieces!!!? Ok- I am trying to think of different off beat things for wedding favors and centerpieces. I am trying to have a very fun and different wedding. So far I have decided that I am having a Masquerade Ball Wedding and we are going to ask the guest to please wear black or white. The invitations will read something like Black and White Ball.... We are going to supply feather mask for the guest at the tables. My dress is either going to be a medium pink or hot pink and the bridesmaids will be black and white. I have check out all the basic things for favors- CDs, Candy, Cookies, baskets, candles, cookie cutters ect... but none of them are different enough. I really like the small bottles of wine but they were $5.00 per person and we are having 200 guest- OUCH! For centerpieces- I like something different then flowers... Any ideas no matter how crazy or weird are greatly appreicated! Yes, I am a very tacky!! And I don't need any comments about how different and strange I am!!
Help Please!! Movie question...? Does anyone know where I can get a picture of the invitation used for the Masquerade ball in Count of Monte Cristo movie? From the 2002 version. It's reallllllllly important!!! Thanks =]

What should i do for my sixteenth birthday party? I either want to have an 80's themed party or a masquerade ball.I really like the idea of a having a masquerade ball because it sounds like it would really be fun and my guests and I could dress up and look really pretty. But at the same time I don't want to sound rude if i put on the invitation to dress up like really fancy. On the other hand i have always wanted to have an 80's party it just seems really cool and I think that everyone would have a good time. Then people could just wear bright 80's inspired clothing. So what should I party theme should I do? It would also be a big help if you included pictures of the party that you think I should do. :)
Should I wear a bow tie with my formal shirt or not? I am going to a masquerade "ball" tonight for someone's Sweet 16, and there will only be about 50 people: just some family and friends, nothing too big. Anyways, the invitation says a formal shirt, dress pants and a mask for men. My question is, should I go with a bowtie, or just leave it without it? And yes, no sports jackets/suits are allowed. P.S. If it helps, I have a plain black mask, that covers the lower part of my forehead to most of my nose.

Can I please have some help with the wording on the invitations for my sweet sixteen? I'm beginning to plan my masquerade-themed sweet sixteen. If I were to have everything for the party I wanted, I'd stand out in a beautiful white ballgown-type dress, and have everyone around me in colorful costumes, or at least masks. I'd really love to be the only one in all white (I mean, I wouldn't be devastated if someone had a white shirt, or light khakis), but what I'd really like to avoid is people showing up in bad costumes. I wouldn't mind if it was a little silly (for example, a nice jester outfit), but I absolutely DO NOT want guests wearing things like this: http://www.costumeexpress.com/Man-Eating-Shark-Teen-Adult-Costume/12529/ProductDetail.aspx . Anyways, I currently have the invitation draft worded as: Please join us, In celebration of her 16th birthday For Katarina (last name)’s Masquerade Ball (Date, Time, Place) Food will be served Please dress in colorful semi-formal wear – Tasteful costumes encouraged, Masks are mandatory RSVP no later than (date) (phone number) Does that sound appropriate? I'm not sure if I've worded it clearly enough, or if it's too strong. Also, would it be a faux pas to ask people to check their costume ideas with me? Just so I don't get people showing up with things like the previous link... Oh, and if anyone can think of a catchier name for the party other than Katarina's Masquerade Ball, I'd be much obliged. Thanks to any help I get! I guess I didn't make this clear, but I really don't care a huge amount. These are just things that I'd like to have happen. I'm not going to be heartbroken if it doesn't work out. I asked this question so I could figure out if my wording was too strong or too weak. I just want to nudge my friends in the direction as far as what I feel is appropriate attire. To Christine: I don't know where you get off telling me I'm not emotionally mature. I'm not the one picking on people in Yahoo!Answers and insulting them. You don't know me. For all you know I could be well beyond my years. I'm not saying that I am, but don't be so quick to judge. I'd be ticked if someone showed up to my party in dirty jeans and a jersey, but I'd care more that they came. But really, it's a special day for me! I don't see why you care if I'm giving in to a few (may I add, highly normal) diva-like tendencies. Especially when there are those who do way worse than ask their friends to dress to the theme.
