I am planning a masquerade quinceanera and the thought just accured to me that most people wear long dresses to masquerade balls and I was thinking that my damas (girls who are in your quinceanera)could wear short dresses but im not sure if that would look right,would it?

Help with a Masquerade Ball? First of all, it is NOT goth or alternative. It is a normal masquerade. I want to have a masquerade in the middle of summer, kind of as a reunion for my friends. I'm not thinking anything super-fancy. It will be in my basement, which I'll decorate accordingly. Would an appropriate dress code be skirts/dresses for girls, dress pants/suits for guys, and then masks? I don't think it's asking too much financially, except that I'm hoping they'll do a bit with the masks. I also need help with color schemes, since I can't seem to pick one. And I know a buffet would be best, but what kind of food on it? How long do these things take to plan? I want to do a very good job, so if I have to, I'll wait until my birthday in December.
